Stuart Chambers (Faculty Associate)

    BSc (Bristol, Engineering), MBA (Warwick)

Stuart draws upon fifteen years of hands-on operations and general management experience, and around twenty five years of teaching, research, and consultancy in Operations Management (OM), Operations Strategy, and Process Improvement within leading European business schools.

    Experience Overview:
Starting his career as an apprentice with Rolls Royce Aerospace, Stuart graduated in Mechanical Engineering. Subsequently, he worked for Tube Investments as manager of a new hot rolling mill, followed by a six year period as Factory Manager of one of the UK’s largest pre-cast concrete factories. He was then engaged as General Manager of a specialist building material manufacturer.  In mid-career he studied for an MBA, developing a passion for teaching and research in Operations Management (OM), which totally redirected his career aspirations.

Following a three year period of research into manufacturing strategy, working with the senior management teams of fifteen companies, Stuart has become a successful academic and consultant in the OM field, teaching MBA and executive courses, and publishing (with colleagues) several leading, influential textbooks in the field. His consultancy now focuses on process improvement and waste reduction in services, with clients in the investment banking, insurance and healthcare sectors.
