UK rail infrastructure provider - Network Rail - is working hard to position itself as a world-class, blue-chip employer, and one that appeals to high-performance individuals who may not have previously considered a career in the rail industry. In recognition of a specific need to nurture the best possible leaders who can deal with organisational change, it has invested in a consolidated talent-management programme in partnership with the University of Warwick.

Overseen by HR and a dedicated Leadership and Development Resource team, the programme uses a performance-review process to assess individuals in the context of a Leadership Capabilities framework, which ultimately seeks to identify "high-potential" managers.
